It's slow going through my backlog of recordings. I'm not through December's lot yet, but already, there are cool things to find that I taped.

I guess I will post select samples by next weekend, but alongside I am also working on some "wrong" samples. I mean clips in which I try to emulate how to NOT sound. While you may say that that describes all my samples already, I have a purpose in mind, to demonstrate what to listen for within one's voice when first beginning to learn TS. My Xorekteer is changing at a rate right now that suggests I only just learned it. But I knew how to do it for months now, just been neglecting it a little, it seems.

While I still don't seem to find the time to go through my backlog of recordings, I am still making new ones...

I had a few "projects" planned, but I usually announce them and then don't get to them... this time is no different, lol

Meanwhile however, my Khoomei got better again. My Khoomei voice is smoother and the mucus issues I often comment on have gone away mostly. As a result, I get a good range of fundamentals and overtones with little effort now. The clarity of my Sygyt sound was already pretty good, IMO, but this has also improved. Now it's clearer than I originally thought possible.

The thing that puzzles me though, is that I have quite loose Xorekteer underneath my high pitches and Sygyt. I mean, I get crisp notes, but the vibrating buzzing sound is a LOT less prominent.
I can still do "proper" Sygyt mind you, but the constriction is waaay tighter and it sounds edgier, and I can't do any big jumps (intervals) from note to note easily, plus it seems too hard to get a high fundamental.

So I'm thinking that there're two types of Sygyt, one low drone, one high drone whereas the high variety has looser constriction... tongue positions are the same...

Any ideas?

The first thought coming to my mind is that a high fundamental (how high?) has a higher frequency. Logical. ;)
So the overtones are more pitched up than with a low fundamental. Logical, too.
As a result, you have less overtones in the hearing range of humans to pick... But this doesn't have anything to do with your problem. ;)
But maybe it is a clue that there is more tension on your vocal folds when you do higher notes. This could make bringing the overtones out easier than with your normal, relaxed voice, so you need less constriction. Does that sound convincing?
Anyway, I don't know how hogh you go, if it's just a small step, ignore my theory. ;)

Hmmm, yeah. I do find that I have to relax the constriction a bit the more I pitch up, which is why I sing my Khoomei so low...
