It's so cool that they are coming to Lund,
a small town.
I'm so going to see them.
If I can I'll go to Malmö aswell.
And the workshops ofcourse.

Too bad they don't speak english.
The translator SONG set up is german aswell,
so I will probably have to talk to someone to translate swedish to german first.

Tyva Kyzy - Europe Tour

Postby wolfgangsaus » Sat Oct 07, 2006 7:12 am

All languages will be available. Liza, the tour manager,
translates to either english or german, my friend Gösta, the
host, speaks german and swedish.

BTW, in March 2.-4. 2007 Transmongolia & Hosoo and me will
perform in Lund.

Wolfgang

Thanks, that's very good to know :)

Just one week til the big event.
I'm already itching to get it started.
I wonder what they'll say at the workshop,
if it shows too much that I've been practicing without a teacher.

Cool that you know Gösta.
I'm a regular visitor of SONG,
the overtonesinging group here in lund.
Gösta has some nice bass voice :)
It's like an overtone-kargyraa or something.
Seems most people know eachother in this niched world.

And I'll definitely not miss 'Transmongolia & Hosoo and you'.
Me puts "March 2-4" in the calendar.

It was just as good as I thought it would be.
First I saw their koncert in Malmö, then I was at the workshop in Lund.
The koncert was beautiful,
they had this pride in their eyes,
and the clothes were awesome (where can I get a hold of a silk dress like that?
are they unisex? looks like it)
There was a harp-solo that really touched my heart.
And I never knew they made the animal sounds in realtime,
I always thought those were sampled.
Great stuff.

At the workshop there were many beginners,
I think I was one of the better ones there :)
Choduraa said I had very good resonance,
she listened to my khoomei and said wow,
so that was realy nice.
I got some advice aswell;
It would seem I have an annoying habit of going nasal,
which is more overtone singing then tuvan singing,
so that's something I will really try and train more to fix.
And I use way too much pressure in the throat,
the volume gets too low,
I don't need all that pressure.

They showed up at our Overtonesinging group at night,
that was almost the best part,
they did some improvisations and we got to hear a beautiful rendition of the tuvan national anthem.
In the church we were in, great echo.
They finished by saying we should go to the symposium in july 2008.
That would be perfect timing for me,
and a cool birthday present for myself.

Tomorrow they will do their last thing here,
sing with our folkmusicians.
I will be there,
not dancing,
(or, well, that depends on this certain girl, I guess)
but listening.
Swedish folkmusic is beautiful,
a bit repetetive for my taste (and then I like trance),
but with throatsinging in it, who knows how that will sound.

I bought a cd with andrey mongush,
a dvd in english that was like a propaganda tour of Tuva,
and the 'Overtone singing' book.
I think I saved alot on not having to ship it myself :)

See you!

Yes, it's not often something like that happens here.
Lund is only a 100k people town :)

It's the 'Overtone singing' book by Mark van Tongeren.
Just read 1½ chapters, and it's not really what I expected.
A very technical/physics approach at the beginning of the book.
I don't like that.
Too much about hertz and stuff.
But I guess it will get to the good parts near the end.
I want the spirituality, and the culture.
Well, I think that's why there's still room for me.
That's what I want to research :)

I think you would love the book by Roberto Laneri "La Voce dell'arcobaleno". I just read it with much pleasure.
I do not know if it was translated into English or any other language.
Can you read Italian? Then get it, it's a more philosophical/historical approach (Laneri was doing OS in the early 70s) but also very much artistic oriented. And spirituality, of course.
