The noise of trees, the babble of a river and the tones of a flute all produced...by a person. In Chelyabinsk, throat singing virtuosos performed in concert--the world-famous quartet Hun-Huur-Tu of Tuva. The secret of the art of throat singing is preserved by the ancient legends of Tuvan shamans. Surprising in the timbre and the pitch, musicians obtain the deep velvety sound through impressive control of the vocal chords and the diaphragm.
For more than ten years, the Tuvan group Hun-Huur-Tu has stood among the musical elite of the world. Since 1993, the group has performed at the most prestigious venues in the world. The group has toured Europe, Japan, Australia, Mexico and China. The quartet has performed with musicians such as Stevie Wonder and Frank Zappa. And today, Tuvan artists are passing Madonna and U2 on the pop charts.
Sayan Bala, member of the group Hun-Huur-Tu says: "Forms have changed, times have changed, but this tradition remains alive, and we gladly develop it in our own way."
